Criminal Cases in the Moffat County Courts

Moffat County uses two state trial courts at one clerk's counter. Moffat District Court hears felony cases, which use the CR case type. Moffat County Court handles state misdemeanors and traffic matters, generally marked M and T. Both operate as Moffat Combined Court in the Fourteenth Judicial District. The clerk maintains the register of actions, filed pleadings, orders, judgments, sentence records, and financial entries. That file is the best source for what prosecutors charged and what the judge ultimately ordered.

Craig Municipal Court is a separate custodian for city ordinance and municipal traffic cases. A municipal citation or failure-to-appear matter may not appear when a requester asks only for a Moffat County state-court file. First identify whether the allegation arose under state law or a Craig ordinance. The arresting officer's label does not settle that issue. The filed complaint, information, or municipal citation shows which court obtained the case.

Moffat Court Codes at a Glance

A full case number places the court file in context. CR identifies a district-court criminal matter, M identifies a county-court misdemeanor, and T denotes traffic. How to Search Case Records

The free Colorado Judicial Branch docket search is event-oriented. It helps locate a hearing, party display, case number, division, and courtroom. It does not supply a full packet of filings or a certified outcome. Use a known case number when possible. Name searches can produce more than one person, while a date and court filter helps separate results. Once a Moffat County case is identified, ask the clerk for the exact record rather than requesting every document.

Moffat Court Copies and Fees

The statewide Judicial Branch record-request form is the practical route when the docket does not answer the question. It accepts names, contact details, case number, and a record category.
